I didn't ask how long you've been in Verens. I asked her if anyone was looking into how someone could make sure they never left, and your name came up. I only asked Usagi because I think she knows everybody.

I want to leave. I've been trying to get out of this place for literal years.
...I know a lot of people who don't, though. And I can tell you right now that we still don't know how or why people up and vanish. The Arehtei, at least, claim they aren't even involved.
Maybe not the answer you're looking for, but I doubt anyone will be able to say anything different. You can talk to Kevin, if you'd like. He's been here since the very beginning, and as far as I know, never went back at all. I actually had a three year break.

I hate to say it, but it doesn't seem like we have much of a choice either coming or going. You should live your life here to the fullest - don't worry too much about something you can't control...

I've been trying to do just that - what you said about living. It's easier said than done for someone like me.

But... I wanted some kind of proof I could give to someone else. That there was something we could do so we both stayed here. Even if I'm the hundreth or millionth person to ask them, I guess I'll talk to the Arehtei anyway - after Kevin.

I don't think you'll find the proof you're after, though. ...Nobody has been able to control their coming and going from this place. The best we can do is make the most of our time here.
I can tell you that if I had any power of this sort, I'd have kept a few of my friends around... Probably quite selfishly.

If that's the case... I can see why it might be more of an urgent issue. I still think you're best off trying to make the most of life here without spending too much of your energy fretting - I don't want to give you any false hope about any of this.
But it can't hurt to speak with more people.

Kevin, if you like. But I don't know everything that goes on on this island. You can see if the mayor or the researchers over at the observatory have gotten any further, maybe. I think they mostly just tolerate us nowadays...
