If that's the case... I can see why it might be more of an urgent issue. I still think you're best off trying to make the most of life here without spending too much of your energy fretting - I don't want to give you any false hope about any of this.
[And mostly he's not used to getting an even remotely gentle treatment from other people for his situation. Granted he didn't actually give her his backstory - because he's been encouraged not to - but still. It's a welcome surprise.]
